Artists perform to raise funds for young entrepreneurs
It was a night full of fun at Kutsinje Lounge in Lilongwe when artists performed to raise funds to support young entrepreneurs
According to the organisers, Paul Katema Foundation, the show’s proceeding will support young people with innovative business ideas.

The concert, held under the theme ‘Youth to the youth’, was spiced up with performances by musicians Gwamba, Kell Kay, Temwah, Charisma and Afana Ceez.
Other artists who shared the stage included Malinga Mafia, who also used the occasion to emphasise the importance of investing in youths.
The foundation’s founder Paul Katema said: “We chose to work with musicians because music speaks the language of the youth. These artists carry influence, and when they lend their voices to this cause, they inspire young people to dream bigger and to act. The artists carried more than music, they carried hope.”
He said the show exceeded their expectations and proved that when young people unite behind purpose, the country’s potential is limitless.
Speaking ahead of the show, dancehall musician Malinga hailed the initiation and recalled how in college he hatched ideas to make a difference in young people’s lives.
As an artist, he said he was compelled to use his talent to support such initiatives.
“As an artist coming from a similar background, I think it is right to use my talent to support young people’s ideas,” he said.
On his part, Gwamba also described the show as one of a kind as it supported a bigger cause for the youth.
“This show is different from others and by supporting it, I am also helping young people to progress in life,” he said.
The foundation recently launched its season one of the Young Builder Challenge, a national entrepreneurship competition aimed at supporting young entrepreneurs, especially tertiary students and fresh graduates.
Contestants are expected to pitch innovative business ideas, where winners will be selected through a combination of public voting and a panel of expert judges. The final results will be announced at the end of the season in December.
National finalists will get K1 million for third place, K2.5 million for second place, and K5 million for the winner. All three finalists will also receive mentorship.
On the other hand, semi-finalists will each walk away with K500 000 while the campus and open category winners will each receive K 200 000.
